Ferrari, the legendary Italian automaker known for its roaring V12s and high-performance gasoline engines, is gearing up for a revolutionary shift. The company has officially announced that it will unveil its first-ever fully electric vehicle (EV) on October 9, 2025, at its Maranello headquarters in Italy.

This move signals Ferrari’s entry into the EV market, aligning with the industry’s growing focus on sustainability. CEO Benedetto Vigna has assured enthusiasts that the new electric Ferrari will maintain the brand’s signature performance, unique styling, and driving experience. The vehicle will also incorporate advanced technology derived from Ferrari’s motorsports expertise.

Although technical specifications remain undisclosed, Ferrari has hinted that the EV will feature a distinctive sound, setting it apart from silent electric cars. Emanuele Carando, Ferrari’s Director of Product Marketing and Intelligence, stated that the car would “make some noise, both literally and figuratively,” suggesting that Ferrari is developing an artificial or enhanced sound signature to preserve the emotional thrill of driving.

To support this shift towards electrification, Ferrari is investing heavily in a new production facility in Maranello, dedicated to building electric motors, battery packs, and power inverters. The expansion will increase the company’s production capacity by nearly 30%, potentially allowing Ferrari to manufacture up to 20,000 vehicles per year—a significant jump from its 2024 production figures.

Ferrari’s debut EV is expected to come with a premium price tag of over €500,000 ($535,000), reflecting the brand’s confidence in its affluent customer base. This would place it well above the average Ferrari price of €350,000, including customization options.

This EV launch comes at a time when Ferrari is set to introduce six new models in 2025, reaffirming its commitment to innovation despite industry challenges such as global trade tariffs and evolving energy policies.

With this strategic move, Ferrari aims to blend tradition with cutting-edge technology, ensuring that even in an electric future, the Ferrari driving experience remains unparalleled.
